Police warning: Vehicle thefts
Added at 14:56 on 08 September 2026

The following statement was issued this morning from Inspector Neil Whittle at Hinckley.
"We are experiencing an increase in vehicle thefts in the Market Bosworth and Desford areas. In many cases, offenders are targeting residential properties during the early hours of the morning, breaking into homes to steal car keys before taking vehicles from driveways.
"In response, CID has established a dedicated team to oversee investigations into this offending. Additional resources from Force Headquarters will also be deployed to conduct overnight patrols, alongside increased patrol activity from local neighbourhood officers during the key risk periods.
"I would ask all residents to remain vigilant and ensure vehicle keys are kept secure and out of sight. If you witness any suspicious activity, particularly between midnight and 5:00am, please report it to us immediately. The information you provide could be vital in helping us identify and apprehend those responsible.”
Call 101 if your call is not an emergency. Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger or if a crime is in progress.
